Fun Farm Grantham
14 minute drive
Have a seriously fun time. Think laughter rather than livestock, Fun Farm Grantham is a giant indoor play area where you’re more likely to see climbing kids than cattle. There’s plenty on offer for older kids too, with laser tag available in the soft play area and 12 lanes at Grantham Bowl next door.
Ancaster Leisure Centre

For an active afternoon. Lincolnshire’s largest outdoor activity centre is one of the best family attractions in Grantham. With everything from go-karting to paintball and archery to bowling, you’ll have endless fun trying all the activities on offer.
Lincoln Zoo
50 minute drive
Lincoln Zoo is a fun and interactive wildlife park where families can meet a variety of animals - from playful lemurs and meerkats to majestic big cats and colourful parrots. There are plenty of animal-handling experiences, keeper talks, and feeding sessions to make your visit truly engaging. Kids can also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, complete with climbing frames and a tropical sand zone to explore. It’s a warm, welcoming place that blends adventure with education.
Scalextric Racing
50 minute drive
For some high-speed family fun, visit Electric Tracks’ Scalextric Racing venue - where you can race slot cars around replica circuit layouts. With multiple tracks inspired by famous racing circuits, it's a great place for friendly competition or just a playful challenge. The staff are passionate about slot racing and can help you pick and tweak cars for your race. It’s a lively, nostalgic way for both kids and adults to enjoy a bit of racing excitement

Why not start the fun before you even arrive?
Travelling up the A1 from the south? Stop off at Woolsthorpe Manor. Around 25 minutes from the hotel, Isaac Newton’s childhood home makes a great (and educational) first adventure. See the famous apple tree, learn all about gravity, and get hands-on with science before completing the last stretch of your journey.
Coming from Nottingham way or the west? Factor in a stop at Belvoir Castle. With the castle, gardens and seasonal animal park to explore, it’s the perfect place to stretch your legs before continuing your journey.
If you want a full day out, there are some fantastic choices within easy reach of the hotel.
National Trust Belton Estate is just down the road - you could even walk there. Explore 1,300 acres of parkland, look out for the resident deer, wander through the gardens and leave plenty of time for the enormous outdoor adventure playground - the National Trust’s largest. There’s indoor play too, which is handy when the Lincolnshire weather isn’t the best, and an ice-cream parlour that’s definitely worth a visit.
Slightly further afield - about 35 minutes’ drive - you’ll find Twinlakes Park. Rides, animals and indoor play are all on offer at this family theme park near Melton Mowbray. It’s a particularly good all-day option if you’re travelling with children of different ages and need something that will keep everyone busy.
Grimsthorpe Castle, Park & Gardens is another great option that’ll keep the family entertained for hours. Explore the castle, roam the parkland and gardens and let younger visitors loose in the woodland adventure playground. Just remember it’s seasonal and only opens on selected days, so check opening times before you set off.
Sometimes you just want a quick activity so you can get back and make the most of the hotel.
Ancaster Leisure is a great option around 12 minutes away. Go-karting, archery, bowling and more make this popular with energetic families or older children.
Or if you prefer something outdoorsy, Londonthorpe Wood offers a short child-friendly woodland trail that’s perfect when everyone needs some fresh air. Plus, it’s free.
Another free activity is Grantham Museum. A small, easy town-centre stop for families who like dipping into local history without spending the full day sightseeing.
There’s no need to head out every time someone says, “What are we doing now?” There’s plenty to do right here at the hotel.
Follow the nature trail or simply head out for a wander through the grounds, bring out the giant Jenga and Connect 4, or turn the tennis court into the venue for a fiercely contested family championship.
For some family-friendly golfing fun, head to our on-site TrackMan driving range and see who can perfect their swing. When everyone needs cooling down, head to the pool during family swim times.
No need to pack up and head straight back home. Squeeze in one last activity on the way.
Heading south? Take a detour to Yew Tree Avenue - around 31 minutes away. Almost 150 clipped yew trees turn this former carriageway into one of the more unusual walks in the area.
Or make Wyndham Park your final stop instead: an easy run-around and picnic before everyone gets strapped back into the car.
